My Students

I teach "publications", "yearbook", and "writing". I sponsor the school's award-winning literary magazine called Riverbend Review).

Riverbend Review is the Literature and Arts Magazine of Benjamin Franklin High School which has been published every year since 1986 and is a showcase of the literary and artistic creativity of the student body.

Every year, Riverbend Review receives one of the two medals attributed by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Silver Crown Award & Gold Medal.

My Project

Each year, I work hard with my students to prepare the annual yearbook. A lot of work goes into the fabrication of the yearbook, such as taking pictures of events, keeping track of school activities etc.

The students come back in the summer to pick up their yearbook in the school's atrium.

Then the party begins. Refreshments are provided and students share their memories and sign each other's yearbooks.

We've had students sitting on the floor and it is to be avoided.

The students in the yearbook (publications) class organize the event from A to Z. Getting 3 folding tables and 4 sets of chairs will help organize a smooth event. The students enhance their organizational skills which include ordering and setting up the refreshments and creating distribution lists of the students receiving their yearbook. They have to set up the folding furniture, then pick it up and return a clean space. This project will contribute to practice responsibility, organization, and will learn how to stage an event.
