This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our portable classroom has zero table top space, and we desperately need it.
Our 7th graders are a dynamic, social bunch of preteens who live in a tough, economically depressed area and attend a Title I school in Northern California.
Many struggle to attend school and stay out of gangs. Most have aspirations to attend college, but, due to the budget crisis, our large urban school district is not able to provide students with all the resources they deserve.
My Project
Having tables in our room will allow us to have a more effective and organized classroom. The round table will help me individualize instruction in smalls groups for struggling students. The rectangular table will help us get more organized. Instead of having all our sorting trays crowded on top of our one small cubby, we could spread out and sort our in-trays and out-boxes by period.
Please help us battle our lack of table space.
We really need a small group instruction table so struggling students aren't left behind. We also need a rectangular table so students can efficiently submit work and receive it back in a straightforward, timely manner. Thanks for helping our economically disadvantaged students get a few of the resources that more privileged kids receive automatically.
