Table Time: Making Review A Game!!!

My Students

Making math meaningful and fun is my priority. Games allow students to review and test what they know. They also build fluency in their facts and skills at the same time. Who wouldn't mind learning if you are playing a game?!

I teach three blocks of 4th grade math.

My students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds and family situations. I have found that math is a subject most of them struggle with, especially fluency in basic facts such as multiplication. Our school is 100% student centered! Teaching the whole child is my philosophy.

My Project

I have incorporated "Table Time", a 20 minute block of time for students to play basic fact/review games in specified groups, in my classroom over the past school year and have found it to be very successful. Students use facts to play these games and over time become more fluent in the skills. I rotate the games throughout the school year basing them on student needs. The games I am asking for are focused on areas that need the most concentration for skill mastery in 4th grade.

My students will use these games daily throughout the year!

My goal is for them to see growth in themselves, and know that even games can help them learn. It also allows them to "put into practice" what they are learning and incorporates a little bit of healthy competition as well as teamwork!
