My Students

I am the teacher at an elementary school and it is proudly my 11th year at the same school. We provide a pre-k collaboration between public pre-k and a program that provides free learning and developmental services to children ages 4 -5 from low-income families.

The children in my classroom deserve nothing but the best instructional opportunities!

My classroom has about the same amount of boys and girls and it has been my intention to get them to blend roles instead of the traditional roles (Male is bulldozer driver and firemen)

Preschool assists in teaching young children social and emotional skills; how to get along with others, communicate effectively, sharing, and taking-turn. When educators are able to provide students with hands-on learning and exposure to experiences that they can relate to, we are creating future learners!

My Project

This table will create an additional space that is appropriate for children to interact with each other during breakfast, lunch, center time and snack. Using sensory materials allows for open-ended play, yet can be calming and used for tactile input for some that may need it.

It is all about creating a space to learn and grow!

Providing this opportunity in school then when/if the children have to learn remotely, I can remind them of the things they enjoyed when we were together.

Learning through pretend play and experiencing the day to day things they see their families doing (cooking, cleaning, & eating together) is why these materials are important.
