My Students

We are a school that is in a very rural area. My students are special because they are experiencing the same schooling that I was able to grow up with. This is the school that I grew up attending. I know funding is tight in rural areas and that makes me fight even harder for these kids.

We work hard on coming up with experiences for the students that they would otherwise not have the opportunity to do.

This includes classroom activities, field trips, and project based learning.

My Project

Our classroom is set up as an environment where a lot of individual and group work is happening. We spend a good portion of our day in small group work. Most of that small group work is done at our group reading table. The currently table is older, squeaky, and wobbly.

This table would give us a fun place to meet and collaborate with one another.

The dry erase top would allow for various degrees of engagement and skill work. Plus, it would be a whole lot of fun for 2nd graders to get to write on the table! Fun is an important part of keeping kids engaged. It will also help with kids who are at various levels of learning. They can write, draw, and help visualize skills we are working on.
