This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently teach Kindergarten at an underprivileged school. If you ever come into our school you will see my students striving to do their best. My students have lower economic status and do not have adequate resources to foster their learning. All our students receive free lunches. In my class, I have 6 different languages spoken and 10 different countries represented. My goal as an educator is to embrace every culture I have in my class, making everyone feel loved and welcomed.

My Project

The use of the kidney table is a daily learning area in my classroom, especially in during small group time. During group time, students come to the table with their learning bin for guided practice on specific standards. The bins are used to help organize learning material by ability level. The student are allowed to bring their leveled bins to the small group table. This area also provide an easy place for them to show and share their work while working with me. By having kidney table and learning bins, students will be able to work together during small group time while being comfortable the small group table together. This will help alleviate time that we now use to have to move tables and chairs before small group.
