My students are three- to five-year-olds with special education needs. The students that I work with are in a self-contained early childhood classroom or fully included in a preschool or 4K classroom. Students are working on learning new activities and following directions. The children are increasing their knowledge through turn taking, cooperative play, art projects, literacy and by participating in active learning.
Play opportunities allow our 3- to 5-year-olds to work on turn taking, following directions, sharing, communicating with others, and increasing overall social skills.
Students are able to work to their full potential when they better understand how to interact and communicate with others, and this can be taught by enhancing students' social emotional skills. Play is embedded throughout our school day and is an effective way to help students learn and grow in all areas of development.
My Project
Three-, four- and five-year-olds learn through play. We will use the containers to organize materials in this center area and the table will be used every day by the students.
Having a table in our house area will promote learning and enhance the pretend play skills of our students.
We will be able to work on turn taking and other social skills as well.
Please help us to promote the learning and play skills of our youngest learners. In addition, students will also be able to work on cleaning up toys and materials as they place the new containers back on the shelves.
