Help me give my students the best start to their next school year. Every year, I try to supply what I would consider the basics! My MLL students deserve to have what they need to succeed.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach diverse learners with unique backgrounds and needs. Multilingual Learners (MLL) who enter grade 9, 11, and 12 arrive with minimal English proficiency and varying access to school supplies. It is an endeavor rooted in the belief that every student, regardless of their starting point, deserves the opportunity to excel and thrive.
Understanding the importance of meeting students where they are, both academically and culturally is central to educating the future of the world, and especially in educating MLLs.
Basic supplies such as pencils and notebooks, acknowledges that even seemingly small gestures can make a significant difference in a student's educational journey. Moreover, by fostering a sense of belonging and value within the classroom, students feel empowered to engage actively in their learning and take ownership of their academic success.
