My students come from all different types of backgrounds and cultures. My homeroom alone includes ten different languages! This school has an impressively strong sense of community, as well. It is truly unparalleled how our school community can come together for the common goal of helping each other grow. These students deserve nothing but the best!
We are diverse and value working collaboratively.
Our students are engaged learners! The students are challenged to think critically and to become problem solvers. Our students are also part of STEAM classes, and they love incorporating technology when our resources allow.
My Project
Teaching 5th grade math means welcoming many students into a subject that has given them anxiety and low self confidence for years. My mission is to build that confidence in each student by creating a comfortable and engaging environment for them to take chances and learn.
These stools will be used at one of our fixed math stations.
Students will be able to sit at tall tables and use technology to build fluency and build math skills. They will also use these stools to sit together and play math games cooperatively.
Additionally we build financial literacy by using Hornet Bucks. Students will use these stools to sit at the station to complete their bank deposit slips, and manage their "money".
I want students to feel comfortable in our math class, and these stools will play a big part in improving their math mindset.
