Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from various backgrounds including immigrants, migrants, and about 50% English Learners. Over 99% of my students are classified as minority. Some of my students have low scores in math and science.
In my school, over 98% of our students are economically disadvantaged.
In a low socioeconomic status school, my students struggle with life. Caring about school is not a priority; surviving is. I want to give my students the desire for learning technology through STEM or STEAM projects. I want them to know that a better future is possible.
I want to ensure that my students have a chance in life. Some of these students do not believe in themselves. Most of my students have changed their mindsets by the many opportunities that others, like you, have provided through DonorsChoose.org, Thank you!
My Project
With a Nintendo Switch, along with fitness games students can stay healthy while other games are meant for competition in the growing field of eSports.
My students' Computer Technology & Gaming club is excited to have their first Video Game Design class.
We have entered in gaming competitions (from creating a game to playing) in which we have won several years. Along with the new class, my students need practice in the most recent competition we have entered: Super Smash Bros Ultimate. My student's ultimate goal is to stay healthy and work on engineering. However, for this project, they will prepare for their next competition which will serve as an incentive for my classes and a way to bond for my club.
