This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many students on my caseload have a cortical visual impairment, ocular impairment, and/or multiple disabilities. Using a multi-sensory approach allows my students to feel and connect with an activity.
We will utilize the the Tapio interface with a Specs Switch for use with the iPad.
This will allow students to actively engage in cause and effect apps independently. This will allow for students with visual impairments to have fun while learning.
The Tapio interface plugs directly into the iPad, making it switch accessible. The Specs Switch will plug into the iPad the students will be able to use the switch to make choices on the iPad. These new materials will be used in the classrooms every day with many of my students. The teachers, paras, and students will all benefit from having this new switch interface and a compatible switch for student use.
