Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work as an occupational therapist in a public school serving incredible students with disabilities. Each day, I see firsthand how determined and creative my students are as they work to develop skills that help them overcome barriers, participate in their classrooms, and succeed in their education. Despite the challenges they face, they are enthusiastic learners with limitless potential.
An iPad paired with an Apple Pencil would be a transformative addition to my therapy room, offering opportunities for innovation, engagement, and tailored support.
Using specialized occupational therapy apps, I will help students strengthen fine motor skills, develop sensory regulation strategies, and work on handwriting. The technology also provides endless possibilities for creativity, allowing students to express themselves and build confidence in new ways.
Additionally, the iPad will help me teach students essential digital literacy skills, including how to Google search for classroom projects and assignments. This will empower them to take ownership of their learning and become active participants in their education. The iPad will allow me to create interactive materials that help students bridge the gap between therapy and academics, ensuring they feel confident in their classrooms.
By donating to this project, you will enable students to engage with innovative tools that foster independence, skill-building, and confidence. This technology will support them not only in their therapy sessions but also in their classrooms, helping them reach their goals, learn, and thrive.
