My students need a variety of classroom supplies including pencils, kid scissors, Elmer's glue sticks, writing and journal paper, copy paper, makers, and crayons.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title One, low economic/high poverty school that has seen many budget cuts in the past several years.
I currently have 22 students.
19 of them are English Language Learners. These children come from a low-income families who struggle to be able to afford basic classroom supplies. Due to the economic struggles they are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face they work so hard everyday to meet their goals.
All of my students receive free lunch, but that doesn't stop these brilliant learners from setting high academic goals throughout the school year and achieving them.
My Project
It's hard to believe but we're halfway through this school year and I'm already running out of basic classroom supplies. Most of my students can not afford to replenish basic school supplies, and I want to make sure that anything they need to succeed, even a pencil, to be available for them.
I'm requesting a variety of basic classroom supplies including pencils, Elmer's glue sticks, writing/journal paper, copy paper for writing station books, kid scissors, writing chart paper, card stock for handmade books, crayons, markers, and colored pencils.
These supplies will be used by me and the students as we push forward in our learning.
Having something so basic as paper and pencils is critical for any student to achieve and succeed. The pencils, crayons, markers, copy paper, card stock, and scissors will be housed in the classroom supply area. The chart paper is for lesson anchor charts which are posted around the classroom for all to see. Students also use the chart paper, writing paper, and journal paper when working on team projects and individual writing assignments.
These supplies will not only help my students this year but will be ready for those new students next August.
