This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a small, cozy school in Richmond, Virginia. The children in my building are great kids; they appreciate and evolve from positive motivation and are very bright when focused and interested. We were named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2006.
Next school year, I will be a First grade teacher; I have taught Kindergarten and I have taught Second Grade but never First, so it will be a WELCOMED new experience!
I cannot wait to see what it is like...
My Project
Being the proactive woman that I am, I would like to go into the new school year armed with ALL of the items I would need to maintain a mess- and germ-free school year; keeping order in my room and teaching my kids to take care of themselves and their space is imperative to raise them as great citizens!
I really want to get my kids into the habit of executing great hygienic practices NOW so that doing so will be automatic for them as they grow (I hope, lol).
It takes a plethora of cleaning items to keep a classroom looking pristine and my kids healthy--while parents provide them in the beginning of the year, they run out FAST!
I am asking for brooms, dustpans, hand sanitizer units, Lysol wipes, and boxes of tissues (the ones my parents buy run out by January!). They will be used after afternoon snacks, before and after lunch, and the end of the day as we begin wrapping up all activity.
I know school supplies can be expensive after the beginning-of-the-year and tax-free sales are over-especially for persons with multiple children-so I wouldn't want to burden my parents any more than I have to.
All requested supplies should last the whole year and will prevent me from having to ask my parents to send in more.
I am very eager to teach First Grade and see these former Kindergartners evolve!
