Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am fortunate to be teaching math to students in grades kindergarten-5th grade at an inner city charter school. My students are amazing! I have high expectations and they reach them! I give timed tests on their facts and they earn a treat if they raise their previous score.

I do it everyday as it provides them with an opportunity to have a sense of control with.

Only they can control if they increase their score! (Many of my students have to deal with things at home they can not control.) It is has been a great motivation for them! They make a lot of progress and become very proud of themselves! Which of course makes them to begin enjoying math instead of dreading it! It's a win-win!
