This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have had a huge influx in students arriving from foreign countries, often with very mild climates. They come without appropriate clothing for our weather conditions or have clothes for things like after-school sports or phy ed.
Due to the high numbers this year, our clothing cabinet has been decimated, especially in our middle school sizes.
We need to restock so that we can start off next year adequately prepared for this ongoing influx of English Language Learners.
This will help with learning, as when they are appropriately dressed for the conditions, they are able to attend more regularly and get sick less. They are also able to participate in regular school activities without being isolated or singled out.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
