Mrs. Johnson from Baton Rouge LA is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a classroom projector and portable speaker in order to experience the endless possibilities available to them when movement, music, and technology are combined together.

A gym filled with laughter, technology, music, and movement describes a typical day in my classroom. My goal everyday is to motivate students to lead healthy and physically active lives throughout adulthood. I am extremely honored to teach over 420, pre-k through 5th grade students. My students are unique, creative, and come from diverse backgrounds. The majority of my students live in low-socioeconomic neighborhoods in which crime and poverty is the norm. Students often come to school visibly stressed and seem to wear the weight of the world on their shoulders.
They look forward to physical education, as my class is one of the few places students can relieve stress and just be a kid.
While, teaching students to lead physically active lives is a major priority in my class, creating a fun and positive environment for my students is also equally important.
As a physical education teacher, I continually look for new and creative ways to provide my students with activities that incorporate music and technology. We live in a world in which technology is constantly changing and shaping how we learn and function.
Children have access to the latest technology at the click of a button so why should it be any different in the classroom.
Integrating technology into the physical education classroom proves to be beneficial during the learning process. As a school we are committed to our students, but unfortunately we lack many resources, technology being one of them. One of the ways I plan to use the projector is through video demonstrations. Often my students will perform a skill proficiently if they have had an opportunity to see the skill performed. For example, before students begin a lesson on bowling the students would have an opportunity to see the four step approach modeled via the projected video demonstration.
The younger students would improve their throwing accuracy by use of the projector. For example, the students would work on overhand tossing with foam balls. A YouTube video of moving objects would be projected onto the wall and students would have an opportunity to toss the ball at the moving objects. This activity would not only improve the students tossing accuracy, but would also give my students more exposure to real life situations. These are just a few examples of how the projector would be utilized in my classroom.
With help from donors like you, I can integrate technology into my physical education classroom.
