We are lucky to live in a beautiful, tropical climate surrounded by mountains, rain forests, and the ocean.
The cultural diversity of my students makes for a wonderful blend of language, traditions, and culture. While walking around the campus, you can hear students playing ukuleles and singing.
We live in a rural area of the Big Island. Students help their families put food on the table through farming and fishing. 97% of my students live below the poverty line.
My goal is to create a stress free learning environment, where they can grow and flourish!
My Project
Paradise is amazing but not so amazing when there are no tropical breezes, humidity is high, and it is 91 degrees in the classroom. I watch my students suffering in the heat and see their learning, engagement, and productivity plummet.
An air conditioner will help my students focus on their learning, and not focus on the heat.
I can really see a difference between my classes based on the time of day. During my morning classes, when it is still cool, my students are engaged, smiling, and productive, but by mid-morning there is a serious decline in their participation and focus.
