My students need a laminator and laminating pouches to protect their work and other papers in our classroom. My students also need a fan for our classroom so we can work comfortably.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher in Elizabeth, NJ. Edison Academy was built in 1935 and is one of 6 high schools in this NJ urban district. Our building is in need of many updates and repairs, due to its age, so other classroom needs are not able to be a top priority.
My student's classifications include autism, ADHD, specific learning disability, communication impaired, and emotionally disturbed.
In the few short years that I have been teaching, I have had many students from families who are not financially stable and learned that some were even homeless. Very few students are able to attain materials needed to be successful in and outside of school.
My Project
A laminator and laminating pouches will give students the ability to laminate various reference materials and creations to ensure they last throughout the year. Students work hard on each of their assignments and take pride in their work when it is displayed throughout the classroom.
When temperatures are too high students have trouble concentrating and nose bleeds have occured.
We were very fortunate to have received various donated items for our classroom in the past. Unfortunately, our classroom does not have air conditioning and temperatures can be unbearable at times. Also, many adhesive products have trouble sticking to the wall when temperatures get too high. A new powerful classroom fan will help lower the temperature to a more comfortable level.
