Suture Kits for Future Clinicians

Help me give my students practice tissue, suturing tools and suturing thread so they can practice their medical skills and prepare for their careers in healthcare.

My Project

Our premedical colloquium students at our school are practicing their suturing skills! Once a week, students who are interested in a future in medicine come to our non-credit class where they can learn all about the medical field, from talking to doctors about their experiences in medical school and their profession, to debating bioethics issues they may face in their careers, to practicing basic skills like taking blood pressure readings and stitching up wounds.

Suturing class is always a favorite for our driven students.

They love the hands-on lesson where they can learn a skill no other science class offers at our school. They also get to meet college students from Northwestern University who participate in Project MED, a group of students headed to medical school who want to share what they learn with local high schools.

The only problem with suture kits is they wear out and thread is always in limited supply. We're almost to our goal with generous gift cards left over from our last project, which provided students with learning stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs. Please consider helping us over the finish line with our new project!
