My students value and appreciate dialogue with one another in independent thought and structured argument. They appreciate time to think and engage in work that is meaningful, creative, and relevant. They realize they are citizens of the world who have important ideas they wish to express to their local community and world.
Often, they have limited exposure to the world outside their city and local region and appreciate when teachers expose them to experiences outside their own.
Because we are a title-one school we are in need of generous donors who can facilitate this kind of exposure by creative expression and field experiences.
Our environmental studies class is going to be studying the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. As a culminating activity to our study, we will be joining with Dreamline.org to create flags with our dreams for the world. We will paint flags with our dreams written on them and the record and upload our voices to the website with us reading our dreams.
We will be displaying our dream flags in the school for Earth Day as a way to express our dream for a better world.
Our hope is to inspire others to be better stewards and increase conservation efforts.
