This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My scholars are mature, empathetic, creative, passionate, and curious individuals ready to explore the world of sustainable agriculture. Many of them love to explore the outdoors and are very excited to grow their own food. El Cajon is considered a high risk area and it is crucial that my students can forge their own path in the sciences.

My Project

The simple organic spice set will be used to season each meal and the microwave will be used to quickly heat things like butter and sugar. For the garden section, the large latex gloves are used to protect my scholar’s hands when working with tools. The raindrop system will be used to properly water the fruits and vegetables in the raised beds. The specialty mushroom trio will be used to show the life cycle of decomposers and to record growth each day. The 65-gallon compost bin and compost pail will be used to create a sustainable food waste program to create fertile and healthy soil for the next season. Lastly, the worm farm will be used to show the ecosystem of worms and apply it to the worm compost system.
