Surf Seats for Carpet Work!

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My 14 first grade students are amazing! Every day they come into the classroom ready to learn. The warm and welcoming learning environment, as well as strong relationships we have built this year, allow my students to feel safe in the classroom.

At our school, 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch.

The students go through daily struggles, but school is where they can have consistency each day! Having a school community that supports my students and encourages them to do their best helps my students stay motivated and feel appreciated.

I learn from my 14 outgoing and bright students every day! With the support of each other, the school, and the parents, my students are having a great school year!

My Project

These Surf Seats would be great for my first grade students! In the classroom, we do a lot of work on the carpet. I use the Promethean board to work interactively while the students complete pages in their workbooks for subjects like reading, phonics, and math.

Surf Seats will allow my students to work on the carpet more comfortably, and they will be able to stay more engaged in the lesson!

Sometimes my students struggle writing in their workbooks because they are constantly looking up at the board, and then down to the ground at their workbook. My students work on the carpet most of the day, so Surf Seats would be perfect for them!
