My Students
I have a special group of thirty students this year. They’re kind, hard working, innovative, encouraging, and eager to learn. These students come from all different backgrounds, cultures, and even countries! Additionally, I have an inclusion classroom, so we have some friends with special education services. I am constantly blown away with this groups love for learning. If you ask them what they’re favorite thing about first grade is, they all say, “computers!” They love using technology in the classroom to help them grow in their learning!
My Project
My first graders love having choice in their learning space! Flexible seating allows my students to have control over where they learn best. For some students that's at the desk, for others, they prefer to sit in a scoop rocker or have a lap desk. My job as a teacher is to provide a space where students can feel comfortable, included, and safe. When they get to pick where they work, they're not only more focused, but they're excited! When I asked my students what type of flexible seating they would like, the majority voted surf lap desks! Getting these flexible seating options would be a dream come true for my 30 kiddos!
