Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are non-native speakers who are required to pass a comprehensive Civics exam at the end of the year. They struggle with vocabulary and content mastery. They also struggle with maintaining motivation throughout the year.
My students come from households where little English is spoken and parents are not engaged in student achievement.
My students need daily visual reminders on how well they are doing.My students also thrive on competition among their peers and they seem to do better when they can see what their ranking is among the other students.
My Project
We will use these charts and stickers to give students a daily reminder of their content mastery. Each teacher will have students chart their progress and when they master a benchmark with will receive a SUPREME sticker.(Which they LOVE). Our students need to know where they stand, what they need to do to master a benchmark and a reward when they achieve content mastery in that benchmark. They need the motivation to do this and the coolest thing for them are SUPREME stickers. They love these stickers and will work hard to get them. They will be able to compete with their classmates and we believe that this will help them gain mastery in areas that they are weakest.
