Help me give my students a variety of tools to help them succeed in my special education classroom. These items help students with disabilities such as ADHD, anxiety, and dyslexia focus. Other supplies included assist instructors with lessons.
My students strive to do their best in regular education classes and come into the Special Education room for extra support. Most days they come in excited and ready to learn, but on the days they don't, we are ready to cheer them up. Each student knows they are struggling with certain concepts in mathematics, reading or writing, but they want to learn, do well, and catch up with their peers.
Seeing the excitement in the students eyes when they understand concepts they have struggled with shows their determination to succeed and they know we are there to help them in any way we can.
The majority of these students have low self-confidence and it's important that the classroom is positive and a safe space for them. Each student has individual learning styles, levels of understanding, and requirements to help them overcome challenges. My students are grateful, kind, and appreciate everything they work so hard to gain.
My Project
Since my students have very individualized requirements, each of the items requested will enable them to receive the help to achieve their educational goals.
Each student has specific goals they are working to accomplish every year according to their Individualized Education Program and the tools in my classroom allow them to.
The supplies requested will specifically help students who have learning disabilities such as ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Anxiety and Dyscalculia. The white boards will assist in working through math problems and spelling lessons. The wobble cushions help fidgety students focus on school tasks. The stress balls are used in a similar manner and help students who may be having anxiety or other distractions and are often sent to general education classes for them to use in there. The globe and solar system will be used to help the teachers explain some of the stories that are taught in Reading Mastery. The colored overlays are used for students who have Dyslexia as it can help many students so the letters and words do not jump and move as they read.
