My Students
As an occupational therapist, I see that many of my students have to work extra hard to focus and learn during remote learning. It can be difficult for some of my youngest students to stay near the screen to complete work and participate in teletherapy sessions. They are not used to having to look at a screen so much and this can be stressful for their minds, body and eyes.
I am fortunate to have been able to send my students some materials and supplies to use during therapy sessions, but they need more!
I'm looking for some alternative seating options to help my student's focus and move while participating in remote learning at home.
My Project
Many of my students need to move and fidget to learn. Sitting in front of a computer to learn is not ideal. I work on providing movement breaks and other sensory experiences to help them focus and learn. My student's need some of the adaptive seating and sensory tools that they are use to using at school, at home to help them learn. Providing them with resistive bands to kick, wobble cushions to fidget and hand fidgets will only help them to focus better and therefore learn more during this difficult time.
