Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As the science department head of our building, not only am I working to support our students but our teachers as well. Our students are from low-income families and sometimes find it difficult to purchase necessary items on their own. As teachers we all want to provide for our students in every way that we can.
These calculators will be available for students and teachers within the department to borrow on an "as-needed basis" to support their classroom studies in our Chemistry, PreAP Chemistry, AP Chemistry, AP Physics and ECE Physics classes, as well.
Students will be able to focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether they are prepared with the necessary equipment or need to scramble around the building asking others (teachers and/or friends) to borrow them.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
