My Project
In our music classroom, we try to build confidence and collaboration. In a low socio-economic school community, the confidence students need to embrace their craft is sometimes stunted by the damaged or lack of proper music equipment. Supporting this project will help enhance the music learning environment by addressing the need for upright bass students to sit securely while learning foundational technique with wooden stools, store their bows with bass quivers, and for violin and viola students to store school-owned community shoulder rests using the hanging storage system.
These tools help create the positive environment students need for learning.
Bass quivers will improve student and instrument safety, helping to preserve the quality of their bows. Bar stools will support proper sitting posture for upright bass students. Our students currently use stools that wobble, keeping them from focusing on classroom instruction due to the risk of the stools breaking. The storage system will be used for shoulder rests with the purpose of reducing classroom clutter, making the shoulder rests more accessible, and empowering students to take responsibility for their technique and physical health.
