My students need a 20 gallon tank, river plants, and gravel to create a living river ecosystem.

Our classroom can look a little bit chaotic from the outside. Learning in my room isn't always sitting quietly and taking notes. My students love to get up out of their seats, use their hands, and interact with the material. That's why we need hands-on tools to study biology!
Our students are some of the most capable people I know, and sometimes face enormous challenges.
Despite hardship in their life, they try their best everyday and overcome the odds. My students work at our vocational school to become graphic designers, auto mechanics, chefs and more! Since they love working with their hands, sometimes academic subjects can be challenging. My goal is to bring real science experiences into their lives as much as possible. By giving my students hands on activities and labs I hope to engage them in biology. We need supplies in our classroom to help bring biology to life and out of the text book! Our school does not always have the funding we need for these projects, and our students and their families may not have everything they need either. We need your help to create the best learning experience possible
My students love hands on learning. We are a vocational school, and learning from textbooks just doesn't cut it with my students. Living in the city, my students don't get to experience the natural ecosystems we learn about during our ecology unit. They see cars, concrete, and high rise buildings daily not trees, rivers and animals. Pictures and videos of ecosystems really don't express the full beauty of our living world. My students need to see a self sustaining ecosystem for themselves. Our river aquarium will provide them with a hands on model to view how plants, animals and non-living materials are self-sustaining. We are not able to go on field trips to the see the natural world, but with your help we can bring woodland ecosystems to them!
My students rarely get to experience nature.
By giving them this small piece of our biological world, you are exposing them to something beautiful and new. Often, they don't appreciate biology because they can't see how it fits into their lives. By showing them how chemistry comes together to make living, self sustaining environments, you are going to get them engaged in a way that videos and pictures just can't. My students always appreciate your generosity!
