This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How do we improve communication with parents? They will not attend important school functions and support school instruction if they are not in the know. With budget crisis this type of supply is a challenge to purchase, even though the need is great.
Our school consists of 600 students that are very diverse and 80 percent of the students are on free and reduced lunch.
We have a high percentage of African American and Latino students. Communication must meet the diverse needs of this population.
My Project
I want to increase parental involvement in school and classroom functions. I want a very open communication system where I can inform parents of all that is going on in the school, as well as receive their communication back. I am aware of special needs of my students and I want to use a variety of communication forums to educate parents about them. The folders will be used as a weekly take home communication folder. The colored paper will be used to make newsletters and invitations more noticeable.
Please support this effort to communicate with parents in a way that is more organized and obvious.
It will be a huge benefit to the relationship built between my parents, my students, and myself. Students learn more and achieve more with a united teacher parental support to catapult them further.
