Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am starting my 19th year as an educator in a specialized NYC high school. My students are incredibly talented, creative, and diverse; each bringing something new and different to the classroom.
After years experiencing remote learning, hybrid learning, and then returning full time with many health protocols in place, our students have inevitably fallen into a mathematical educational gap (at no fault of their own).
As a teacher of Advanced Placement Calculus, it is my job to help my students overcome this gap, while teaching them college level material. This can only be done by providing specific and individual feedback to each of them. This technology will allow me to conference with each student and create an individual plan to help them succeed. For example, upon completion of problem sets, I can meet one-on-one with each student to provide support on individualized problem areas, while the remainder of the class is working on something else. In short, it will help me target instruction specifically to each student's needs without taking away from the needs of the class as a whole.
