This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
School counselors play a crucial role in providing support and basic needs items to students. Our role goes beyond academic guidance; it extends to the well-being and holistic development of students. The goal of this project is to provide students with basic needs items such as tissues, band-aids, snacks, and menstrual pads. These seemingly simple items play a profound role in supporting students and promoting their success.
Students often visit the school counselor's office seeking emotional support during challenging and distressing times in their lives.
At such moments, tissues serve as more than just a means to address physical needs. Instead, they become a symbol of comfort, empathy, and a safe space for students to express their emotions. Additionally, girls often approach the school counselor to request menstrual pads due to a variety of reasons. This act is not just about acquiring a necessary hygiene product but also reflects the trusting and supportive environment the counselor has cultivated within the school community.
Incorporating snacks into student support initiatives helps combat hunger and its potential negative impact on the learning process. Hunger can be a significant distraction for students, impairing their ability to concentrate and engage with educational materials effectively. Healthy snacks not only alleviate hunger but also provide essential nutrients required for the growth and development of young minds and bodies.
The students at AMS posses the following qualities: politeness, respectful, and are caring. They are special because they contribute to a harmonious, inclusive, and nurturing school community.
