Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As I pave the way through my first year in my new role as Student Advisor for grades Pre K and Kindergarten, I have been assessing the needs of the students and classrooms that I work with. During this time, I have created large and small group lessons to promote social emotional development and awareness among all students.

When my students become engaged with the variety of SEL topics that are covered throughout the year, and can relate their experiences to a character in a story is when the magic of social emotional development happens!

With your help, I am hoping to create a library for my office to be used as a resource for story telling, feelings recognition and acknowledgement, as well as having activities and props available to help students learn about their own emotions and behaviors. This will be helpful as I facilitate new emotional regulation skills with each child and encourage them to take these skills to use at home and as they transition to the elementary grades.
