My Students

Our High School consists of approximately 1200 kids in 9th through 12th grade; all students receive free breakfast and lunch because over 60% of the students are considered to be from low-income families. I have little to no science supplies and only have a $400 budget for the year. In my eyes, all of our students are special and deserving of a high-quality education. I love that my students are hard workers and willing and open to learning new things. I feel that having more hands-on manipulatives in my classroom will help my students more concretely understand concepts being taught.

My Project

The materials I am requesting for my students will support their ability to be productive members of society after they graduate. A lot of my students are in 9th-12th grade and still need assistance in understanding basic skills needed for everyday life: telling time on an analog clock, using money to make purchases, using a checkbook, reading cursive writing and using it to sign their names are to name a few things.

By providing my students with concrete manipulatives, they will be better able to learn and understand the skills they need to have to be successful after graduation.
