it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students with learning differences present with sensory needs that may impact their way of learning. Our sensory state needs to be addressed in order for learning to occur. Therefore, it is important for me to have a variety of sensory materials from fidget manipulatives, stress balls and games to provide my students with ways in which their sensory needs can be addressed to promote their learning. Although, the focus with my students is to address their basic communication, language and social skills, sensory needs present throughout their day of learning. During our sessions, the fidget toys will allow my students to have tactile manipulatives for squeezing or popping to address physical sensory needs such as loud clapping or hitting the table. The bingo chips will help to engage my students with their learning, such as articulation practice, sentence formulation, and during play. The cooperative games will support my students with social skills, collaboration, and communication with peers. Although all my students have learning differences that will be with them for their entire learning career, my goal is to bring materials to promote and support their learning, engagement, and participation in their early foundational learning years.
