Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach a super cool group of students who are 18- 22 years old and have autism or other intellectual disabilities. They work so hard but often need sensory supports to stay focused on learning in the classroom.

I would love to get my students a bunch of various fidgets, ear muffs, and mood lighting to support their sensory needs!

Fidgets are great for them to use during break time to calm and regulate their bodies and emotions. When they take the time to regulate, they are in a better place to get back to learning and be successful! Ear muffs are great for certain students that get overwhelmed with noise when in the gym, cafeteria, out on trips, or other activities where the noise level is beyond a normal classroom. The mood lighting helps a calm environment for them to stay regulated and focused on learning.
