Supporting Our Students With Distance Learning School Supplies
Help me give my students the The Surf Portable Lap Desk to work on along with the writing tools paper, board paddles, cubes. These materials all support learning during Distance Learning at home.
Having taught preschool in Detroit for more than twenty years, I've had the pleasure of servicing many families. The four and five-year-olds come eager to learn. Prepare them for Kindergarten and life learning, can be a daunting task. Therefore I know what students and their parents are experiencing. Yet today we are confronted with Social Distancing. Times have changed except the eager minds of those four and five-year-old students that have honored me with their presence in my classroom.
Preschool learning uses hands-on materials to engage eager learners.
They spend their day in a routine that is filled with writing, reading, painting drawing, singing, discussing, building, taking down, and buildings. However, now students are engaged through the Distance Learning Lessons. Your donations will help students continue in the learning styles that are developmentally appropriate for young learners.
My Project
Students will use the materials selected in this project to support their understanding of the information taught in lessons throughout the Covid-19 Distance Learning Experiences. These project materials, the desk/chair, manipulative cubes, markers, pencils, journals, index cards, construction paper, and white-board paddles all will serve to help students practice write/draw, cut/paste, build/count, and learn to focus on learning skills that will prepare them for the next level of learning - Kindergarten.
Students need a desk to do their activities.
The Surf Portable Lap Desk, Laptop Stand, Writing Table will provide seating space and desk for students to be able to do their work at home.
Also, to be congruent with Early Childhood Practices of using Multi-Sensory tools to enhance students' learning experiences. We have selected Unfix Cubes. Students will use these cube during Math activities and for building. Students will use flashcards and permanent markers to create hand puppets and other visual tools to aid in letters, numbers, shapes, and color recognition games. The Literacy component of the Distance Learning provides students with magnificent stories that students are encouraged to respond to. The student will greatly benefit from the markers and journal ordered in this project, which they will use to write and draw pictures.
Finally, for teachers to be able to gauge students' understanding of the objectives taught, students will use the Whiteboard Paddles and Dry Erase Markers. Students will be able to communicate their understanding by writing and drawing their thoughts and ideas on the boards to hold up to display their responses. Thus, teachers can collect anecdotal responses, evaluate and monitor developments, as well as plan lessons to scaffold learning to the next level.
