Supporting Little Learners

Help me give my students craft materials, cleaning supplies to fight germs in a pre-k class, books, and jellyfish lamps for calming purposes for my little learners.

My Students

I teach at a pre-k through 8th grade Title 1 school in Virginia. Our school serves a very diverse population which includes a high military population, immigrants, a high Hispanic population, French students who are enrolled in the NATO program, a high transient population, and I could go on and on.

Our pre-k students in particular were chosen for our pre-k program because they and their families were going through many hardships and these students are considered "at-risk students".

Our pre-k students greet us daily eager to learn and excited about what their school day will bring. Since our pre-k students learn best through hands-on activities and experiences, we would like to provide this for them.

My Project

The items listed are just a very small portion of what I personally purchase yearly for my students. The cleaning supplies are used all year. Cleaners and wipes are constantly used to try to keep our pre-k class germ free. My students love to paint and create so the picture frames, paper plates, etc. are used for creating and crafting. Books! We must have books, my little ones love having their own books.

Living in Norfolk, our motto is "Life Celebrated Daily" and that is exactly what we do in our class, we celebrate life, we celebrate learning daily.

My students are always excited about learning and celebrating something new (Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras', various winter holidays, etc.). I am always excited to see just how much they have learned and of course to celebrate that learning. We are also asking for some jellyfish lamps. I have one jellyfish lamp located in a calming area in my classroom. Believe it or not, I have children waiting for their turn to sit in the calming area and watch the jellyfish. That lamp is wonderful and I would love to have a couple more.
