My Students

My students are from a military town and have enrolled in an arts integration charter school looking for an educational experience that allows them to become prepared for real-world situations. This is a charter school that currently is a K-8 school looking to become a K-12 where students become career ready.

Through the arts and dedicated staff, our students are becoming extremely well-rounded in their base of knowledge leading to proficiency in their core subjects and ability to apply this knowledge to real-world situations.

My Project

Often in the classroom students are shamed away from doodling and required to organize information in one way, bullet point notes. Through this project, students will have new and exciting tools to use as we start incorporating sketchnotes into our classroom routine.

This project will allow us to use drawing, instead of running from it, as a visualization tool to retain information and draw out student creativity.

Books such as "My Pencil Made Me Do It" reinforce this idea of using drawing as a tactical way to draw out students, their creativity, and their buying to learning. This project will supply students with more tools to help student retention of information.
