This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
After spending the past few years teaching 4th and 5th grades, I have switched to kindergarten and 1st grade, in an effort to better support our language learners when they first begin their schooling.
I am requesting Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to help purchase reading and listening materials for my young English language learners.
I would like to purchase TpT materials because along with supporting the academic needs of my students, I will also have the opportunity to support fellow teachers. The resources available on Teachers Pay Teachers are subject, grade-level appropriate, current, and relevant. As well, they are a great tool to differentiate instruction. The fact that these resources have been created by fellow teachers who have developed and aligned these activities with current, up to date standards that will keep students engaged both virtually and in the classroom is an added bonus. Activities and resources can be tailored to the specific needs of my English language learners.
I find the materials and resources found on Teachers Pay Teachers having been created by current teachers is more authentic than the materials found in a traditional brick and mortar store. These materials will be engaging and target the developmental needs of my young students, many of which are new to school in general. My students will be able to develop various skills of learning but specifically towards their phonological and phonemic awareness. My goal is for these materials to develop not only their reading development but also create a love of reading and learning in general.
