My Students

I teach a classroom of 23-second grade students. Some receive Speech services, some receive Special Education services, and some are General Education students. I have many different cultures and ethnicities represented in my classroom. Our school is filled with diverse learners who speak many languages.

I try to build understanding and respect for all cultures.

We focus on respect and individuality not only in our classroom but throughout our school.

It is my goal as a teacher to teach them where they're at and help them learn the best that I can. I love the bright smiles they give and building a relationship with them each day.

My Project

In a normal year, I have a large range of reading abilities in my classroom. This year is different. Some students flourished and continued growing their reading skills during our emergency distance learning last spring and others did not. This project is designed to support my high readers.

13 of my 23 students this year are already reading at year-end benchmark.

I want to provide my high readers with classic books that are highly engaging.

Every chapter book my high readers read has a study guide with comprehension questions and vocabulary word work to go along with it. These are the areas these students should focus on growing in.
