I teach first-grade at a school with extremely diverse needs. My student’s come from a vast array of backgrounds, languages and experiences. Many of them live in high poverty situations with little opportunity to explore age appropriate activities outside of school. Every one of my kids shows excitement and passion when given tools and strategies that address their unique needs.
My goal is to advocate and search for experiences and opportunities that help them break down barriers of trauma and hardship through activities that challenge their brains, ignite their curiosities and inspire a lifelong passion for learning.
I feel very fortunate that I get to be a voice for these amazing kids and help enrich their lives through meaningful experiences that meet each of their individual needs.
My Project
I am asking for a donation of books for my new first grade classroom. First grade is a vital year for making reading growth and my goal is to supply a variety of high-interest and engaging texts for my students.
The books I'm requesting will support reading development through series studies, author studies and high interest topics and are appropriately leveled to make significant academic gains!
Some books require students to practice reading pictures and early story telling while others offer room for increased challenge with sight word reading and detailed story lines.
There is a wide range of books I selected to support many different interests and levels. I appreciate your consideration!
