In the book Amelia Six by Kristen L. Depken, science and literature are intricately linked through the story's central theme of problem-solving and exploration, both of which are foundational elements in scientific inquiry and literary narratives. The plot revolves around a group of young students who come together to solve a mystery related to Amelia Earhart's disappearance. Throughout the story, the characters rely on their curiosity, critical thinking, and research skills—tools often used in both scientific and literary pursuits.
As a new teacher having this classroom set of books will help me set up my literature circles for the coming year. I have watched as my fellow fourth grade teachers have used this story to teach concepts and I have been fascinated by their experience. This will help me keep in pace with my fellow fourth grade teachers while providing a wonderful learning experience for my students!
