Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What about a social studies lesson observing genuine artifacts? And what if a tour of the prestigious UCLA followed? Field trips enhance children's comprehension and memorization; a visit to the Fowler Museum would help my students reflect on perspectives, art, everyday life...and higher education!
About 75% of our students are African American alongside with Latin and Asian children.
In this wonderful diversity of cultures, I teach social studies to sixty-eight fourth grade students. My public school greatly stresses the importance of peaceful activism and problem-solving. However, we struggle to offer the best to our kids who come from economically disadvantaged families.
My Project
Thanks to your donation, students would be able to enjoy one of our nation's most important collections of art from Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas. They would observe the richness of world arts and considers the roles these works play in peoples' lives. This experience would help them connect art and everyday objects from various cultural perspectives including their own and reflect on our present creativity. They'll also have the opportunity to draw their favorite object and explain its origin and usefulness. Afterward, we would visit UCLA sculpture garden and participate to a Cubtour organized by the university for young students. This visit would familiarize the children with college environment and reduce a little of the anxiety such a place can provoke. They'll get some confidence and would be more incline to consider higher education. This experience is essential for our students whose parents rarely have a college degree.
Your generous gift will enthrall the kids who love field trips.
More importantly, your donation will help them become aware of their social environment, and later act as responsible citizens. You might also be the first one who put them on the path to college! You'll definitely make a difference.
