This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with students on the Autism spectrum. The main purpose of my program is to support students with social skills and better prepare them for life after high school.
Most of my students really struggle to identify how they are feeling and what strategies to use to feel more calm when they are frustrated.
I would like to have a curriculum that students have used in the past to better support them in meeting their needs.
The Zones of Regulation is a research based curriculum that supports students with special needs in learning different coping strategies when they are feeling different emotions such as anger, frustration and sadness. I feel that with this curriculum, I can better meet the needs of my students and help them find success in life after high school.
