In today's high school classrooms, much of our instruction depends on technology. Class materials, assignments, quizzes, and assessments are often delivered through online platforms, and students are expected to access digital notes, videos, simulations, and interactive resources on a daily basis. Without a reliable device, students can quickly fall behind, not because they lack ability or motivation, but because they lack access. This project helped remove that barrier by providing students with a dependable laptop they could use during class, ensuring they were able to stay engaged, participate fully in lessons, and complete their work without unnecessary interruptions.\r\n\r\nThe technology also supported independent learning and accountability. With access to a functioning laptop, students could follow along with presentations, complete assignments in real time, revisit instructions, and use digital tools that support different learning needs. For many of my students, especially those in special education or inclusion settings, having consistent access to online materials is essential. It allows them to work at their own pace, review content as needed, and remain included in the same learning experiences as their peers. Overall, the laptop helped bridge gaps in access and promoted a more equitable learning environment where students could focus on learning rather than worrying about what they were missing.\r\n\r\nWhat excited students the most was simply having a laptop that actually worked well and could keep up with their learning needs. While it did take some time for the right device to arrive—because the first laptops received were very slow and had to be returned and replaced—the final replacement made a noticeable and immediate difference. Once the working laptop arrived, students were more focused, less frustrated, and better able to keep up with coursework. Tasks that once felt overwhelming or discouraging became more manageable when the technology responded quickly and reliably.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled to stay engaged warmed quickly to the new laptop. They were able to access online materials smoothly, participate in class activities without delays, and feel more confident in their ability to complete assignments alongside their peers. The reduction in technical frustration led to increased participation, improved focus, and a more positive attitude toward learning. As a high school teacher, I strongly believe that students at this level need reliable, higher-quality technology that matches the academic demands placed on them. This project helped ensure my students had the tools they need to succeed, stay engaged, and continue moving forward in their education.","fullyFundedDate":1747342487348,"projectUrl":"project/ensuring-instructional-access-through-a/9334693/","projectTitle":"Ensuring Instructional Access Through a Spare Laptop","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bartnick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3329787"},{"teacherId":4410024,"projectId":9535389,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your donation to our class fridge project.
