it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My brilliant middle school and high school student journalists are the founding members of our brand new school newspaper, The Phoenix. Students report on news, share their opinions, and tell essential stories from our community school in Washington Heights. You can read their work here: www.chahphoenix.com
A digital camera will allow our program to grow by giving students the opportunity to take high quality images to accompany their stories.
This will improve the quality and build the credibility of our program. It will be a tool that we can use to learn fundamental photojournalism skills.
This camera will be used by students in grades 6-10 who are members of the after school newspaper club and the 11th grade elective journalism class. It will be put to use daily by these passionate journalists as they investigate their stories and uplift the wonderful people and events happening at our school.
