My Project

I currently teach as a special education teacher in a District 75 classroom, where I have the privilege of working with six incredible students on the autism spectrum. With the support of at least one paraprofessional, we provide intensive academic, communication, and behavioral support each student needs to grow and thrive. I am deeply dedicated to helping every one of my students!

I teach in a District 75 6:1:1 middle school classroom in New York City - the city’s most underserved school district dedicated to educating students with significant special needs.

My students are incredible kids. They are bright, funny, and full of personality - who thrive when given a calm, structured, and sensory-friendly learning environment tailored to their unique needs.

I absolutely love my job. Teaching in a District 75 classroom means I get to focus deeply on each student’s individual growth, celebrating every milestone. These students often face challenges outside of school, and I want to ensure they always feel safe, valued, and accepted in our classroom. Every child deserves a quality education tailored to their needs - and with your help I can provide my students with the supports they need.

This project will help me create the kind of environment that my students need to succeed:

Noise-cancelling headphones help students stay calm and focused in a sometimes overstimulating school setting.

Fidget toys provide sensory input that helps with anxiety and focus, for my students with ADHD and/or on the Autism spectrum.

Visual and digital timers support smooth transitions and timed-task expectations.

Visual schedules and calendar pocket charts provide routine and predictability, which are vital for my students, especially for my non-speaking students who communicate with visuals.
