My Project
I provide speech and language therapy for 70 students, many who are autistic in the public school setting. Many students are at very early stages of language development and require a variety of sensory strategies to help them regulate in order to learn. The flexible seating and sensory toys will be used within my therapy room as well as during whole group sessions in the substantially separate classrooms. Many students are non-speaking and require visual supports to communicate and learn routines. In order to create these visuals to last and be interactive, I need to laminate and Velcro the pictures. This year, I have many students that are in very early stages of play, social interaction and language. To support their development, cause and effect toys are needed to help them gain early skills necessary.
